Convert spreadsheets to PDF

Drop in an .xlsx, .xls or .csv file and get a clean PDF of every sheet. Your spreadsheet is read inside your browser and never uploaded — which matters when it holds pricing, payroll or customer data.

How this converter works

An .xlsx file is a zip archive of XML. This page reads that archive in your browser, pulls out each sheet as a grid of values, and draws the grid into a PDF. Your spreadsheet is never uploaded, which matters more here than for most file types — spreadsheets tend to hold payroll, pricing and customer data.

Formulas are not re-calculated. The value stored in the file, which is the result Excel last calculated, is what appears in the PDF. That is almost always what you want, but it means a file saved with stale results will export those stale results.

What carries across, and what does not

Wide spreadsheets

A spreadsheet with many columns is the usual difficulty when exporting to a fixed page. Landscape orientation is the default here for that reason. If columns are still cramped, the practical fix is to hide the columns you do not need before exporting rather than to shrink the type until it is unreadable.

CSV files

Plain .csv files are accepted as well and are treated as a single sheet. Commas, semicolons and tab separators are all detected automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Is my spreadsheet uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and converted inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted and no copy is kept, which matters for spreadsheets holding financial or personal data.

Are formulas recalculated?

No. The value saved in the file is what appears in the PDF. That is the result your spreadsheet program last calculated.

Do charts and colours carry over?

No. Only cell values are exported. Charts, images, fills and conditional formatting are not included.

Can I convert a file with several sheets?

Yes. Each sheet is exported in turn, with its name as a heading, so a workbook becomes one PDF containing every sheet.

Are .csv files supported?

Yes. A .csv is treated as a single sheet, and comma, semicolon and tab separators are detected automatically.
