What to include in a bug report

Most reports cannot be acted on because they are missing the detail that would let the problem be reproduced. Four things make almost any report actionable:

  1. Which tool, and which settings you had chosen.
  2. What you expected and what happened instead.
  3. Your browser and device — Chrome on Windows behaves differently from Safari on an iPhone.
  4. The kind of file, roughly how large it was and what format. Please do not attach the file itself if it contains anything private.
A note on files: since nothing is uploaded, there are no server logs to inspect. A description of the file's characteristics is genuinely more useful than the file, and safer for you.

Suggesting a tool

The useful suggestions are specific. "A better image tool" is hard to act on; "a way to convert HEIC photos from my iPhone" describes a real problem with a clear shape. It also helps to say what you currently do instead, since that reveals what the tool actually needs to beat.

Response times

This is a small site, so replies are not instant. Bug reports affecting a tool's correctness get looked at first, followed by everything else. If you have not heard back within a couple of weeks, a follow-up is fair.
